5-2-24   THOUGHTS

Proverbs has always been a favorite book.  It is practical wisdom, usable in our everyday life.  Our reading this morning summarizes a series of good things that will help us be good children.  These are things for us to “write on the tablet of our heart.”  Let’s focus on verse 9. Honoring God with our “FIRST EFFORTS AND BLESSINGS” is a topic for our self-examination.  We must always be on guard!   We can slide to mediocrity, in the blink of an eye.  Whether we speak of the giving of  a portion of our income, or the giving of our time in doing good, an efficient effort is our goal!  We are to be cheerful givers in all.   Thou shalt love the Lord thy God, with ALL!

Prov 3:1-9    My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments;
2  For length of days and years of life And peace they will add to you.
3  Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4  So you will find favor and good repute In the sight of God and man.
5  Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.
6  In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
7  Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.
8  It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones.
9  Honor the LORD from your wealth And from the first of all your produce;

My Prayer:

O Lord, may we honor You with the very best and the first that we have.  May we be all the more diligent and eager to make our calling and election sure. May our trust in You be total and childlike as we seek our guidance from You through Your word and prayer.  Heal us, O Lord, and let us walk in the peace that passes understanding.  Help us to be disciples in the truest sense of the word. Help us to make disciples.   We love You awesome God.
In the name of our Savior, Jesus the Christ,     Amen.
